Eight students were awarded prizes in the 2018 Common Reader Essay Contest, in response to book Lab Girl by Hope Jahren.

- Fourth place: Hannah Braun, an Honors Program student and Economics major from Huntington Station, NY
- Honorable Mention: Natalie LoBello, a Environmental Science major from Pottstown, PA
- Honorable Mention: Lauren White, a Medical Diagnostic Interest major student from Beverly, MA
- Honorable Mention: Sierra RyanWallick, an Entrepreneurship & Technology Innovation major from Landenberg, PA
